PYD about Akiba massacre: Silence on crime is encouragement to murderer

The Democratic Union Party considered silencing about Akiba massacre as a partnership in its commission, calling on human rights organizations to take action against the Turkish violations.

The bombing of the Turkish occupation of Akiba village in Sherawa district in Afrin occupied canton resulted in martyring 3 members of one family on Tuesday evening.

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) considered the massacre a crime against humanity.

The council said in a written statement: "New massacre of Turkish fascist invasion

Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the Turkish fascism considers the Kurdish areas and villages permissible lands for its crimes and massacres, either by its soldiers or its mercenaries. It killed dozens of children, women and innocent people without adhering to any international laws or ethical rules, not to mention the occupation invasions in the form of campaigns of the occupation of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî.

On February 25, 2020, the Turkish fascism added a crime against humanity to its record full of crimes of this kind in Akiba village when it destroyed a house on its inhabitants of children and women from Afrin displaced, while the residents and paramedics were unable to lift the rubble and save the wounded due to the continued shelling until Wednesday morning, as an entire family was found martyred.

We, in the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), consider that what the Turkish fascism did in Akiba village a crime against humanity which is added to the record of the Turkish fascism crimes, as it must not remain unpunished. We call on all organizations and forces defending human rights as well as countries seeking to achieve stability in Syria to not stand idly by against the Turkish state's crimes. The silence on a crime is an encouragement to the murderer.

The Democratic Union Party’s General Council

Qamishlo, 26-February-2020."
