SDF’s commander: campaign against ISIS cells came after increasing its activity

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the launch of an expanded campaign against ISIS mercenaries’ cells in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The Commander of Syrian Democratic Forces in Deir ez-Zor Adnan Afrin said in a special statement to Hawar news agency that the campaign started today with the participation of thousands of SDF fighters.

Adnan Afrin indicated that the campaign was launched on the basis of appeals from the region's notables to combat ISIS mercenaries’ cells, which began operating in the region, taking advantage of the measures to prevent the spread of the Corona virus in the region.

According to Adnan Afrin, thousands of fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and Commandos, in coordination with the international coalition forces present on the ground, as well as air support from the coalition forces, are participating in the campaign.

The campaign covers the area extended from al-Dashisha side line to al-Baghoz towards the Iraqi border.

The sleeper cells of ISIS mercenaries took advantage of the conditions that prevented the spread of the Corona virus in the region, and escalated their attacks against the people of Deir ez-Zor countryside.
