The region is undergoing rapid political changes that raise questions about the future and rights of its peoples. Residents of Alyan have expressed concern that divisions among Kurdish forces could undermine the Kurdish cause and the gains achieved so far. In interviews conducted by ANHA agency with several residents of Alyan, in the countryside of Çil Agha in Hasakah province, speakers stressed the need to prioritize the public interest and work together to address current and future developments.

Regional changes place a historic responsibility on the Kurds

In this context, Idris Ahmed said the Kurds were no longer in the same position they had been in before the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which divided Kurdistan. He noted that, through decades of struggle, they had developed political experience and achieved gains through the sacrifices of their people.

Ahmed stressed the importance of preserving and building on these achievements to protect the Kurds' existence and gains from attempts to exploit their cause and prevent a return to policies of denial, genocide and forced assimilation.

He added that the current stage demands awareness and a historic sense of responsibility from all political forces and parties. The present challenges, he explained, cannot be confronted through fragmented positions or contradictory decisions, but require a shared vision and a clear strategy that meets the aspirations of the Kurdish people and safeguards their interests.

Partisan divisions threaten Kurdish achievements

For her part, resident Najma Hassan said continued partisan disputes and the prioritization of personal interests over the public good weaken the Kurdish position. She stressed the need to strengthen solidarity among Kurdish forces and address divisions that other parties could exploit to undermine the Kurdish cause.

She said there was no room at this stage for deepening disputes or exchanging accusations. Instead, political forces should open channels of dialogue and seek common ground to ensure strong Kurdish representation and prevent divisions from being exploited in ways that run counter to Kurdish aspirations.

She emphasized that unity does not mean eliminating differences in political opinions and programs. Rather, it means managing those differences through dialogue and reaching consensus on fundamental issues related to the Kurdish people's future, existence and rights.

A unified strategy to secure the rights of the Kurdish people and future generations

Meanwhile, resident Aya Hussein warned that the absence of a clear political strategy and a unified decision among Kurdish forces at this stage could have far-reaching consequences for the future of the Kurdish people. She noted that historic opportunities do not remain available forever and that making the most of them requires a strategic vision that goes beyond partisan and short-term calculations.

She explained that the Kurds have an opportunity to strengthen their political presence and demand their national, political and constitutional rights across the different parts of Kurdistan. She said this would ensure that they can live in freedom, dignity and equality with the peoples with whom they coexist, while preserving their identity, language and culture.

Hussein added that squandering this opportunity because of divisions or the absence of a unified decision could negatively affect future generations. She stressed that political parties and forces bear the responsibility of developing a shared project based on the will and aspirations of the Kurdish people, warning that continued division could lead to outcomes the Kurdish people would not accept.

A unified position is key to protecting the future

At the conclusion of their remarks, residents of Alyan stressed the need for Kurdish unity and for overcoming partisan disputes in favor of the public interest. They emphasized that coordination among political forces is essential to protecting existing gains, demanding rights and confronting current challenges through a common position that reflects the aspirations of the Kurdish people and safeguards the future of coming generations.
