Kurdish poets in the city of Qamishlo rejected limiting the teaching of the Kurdish language to three classes per week and treating it as an elective subject. They stressed that the language represents the existence, memory, and identity of the Kurdish people, and that the current stage requires constitutionally guaranteeing it and adopting it as a language of instruction at all educational levels. (Photos and video attached.)

Syrian families are heading toward a more costly winter amid rising fuel and heating-stove prices and declining purchasing power. Meanwhile, families in North and East Syria are facing their first winter without the previous fuel subsidies, making securing heating an additional burden on their household budgets.

The three words that have become a symbol of uprisings, “Woman, Life, Freedom,” which emerged from the ideas of leader Abdullah Ocalan, were written by Shirin Alamholi on the wall of Evin Prison and spread around the world following the death of Jina Amini. With the new path initiated by leader Abdullah Ocalan, these words have become a symbol of a new approach to struggle.

The head of the Modernity and Democracy Party for Syria believes that Syria needs a decentralized democratic system with broad powers that guarantees equal citizenship and the rights of all components, distributes power and wealth, prevents the monopolization of decision-making and the reproduction of authoritarianism, and strengthens Syrians’ participation in managing the affairs of their regions and their country.

 The Culture and Arts Center in Hasakah will issue a statement at 10:00, while the Derbasiyah City Council will issue a statement at 12:00. Residents of Tal Tamr will hold a sit-in on the international road at 18:00.

These activities are being held in rejection of the decision by the Ministry of Education of the transitional government to limit Kurdish-language instruction to three classes per week, and in demand of teaching the curriculum in the Kurdish language. (Photos and video attached.)
