A Ministry of Defence member was killed today after being targeted by gunmen in the Al-Baghuz area of eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, near the Iraqi border, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

No confirmed information was available regarding the identity of the perpetrators or the party behind the attack.
