In a scene recalling one of the most prominent episodes of resistance against “terrorism” and bringing back memories of Kobani’s remarkable resilience and sacrifices, Tell Tamer Youth marked the International Day of Solidarity with Kobani by organising a cultural event featuring a screening of the film Kobani in the town of Tell Tamer.

The event took place at the Amedspor cafeteria in Tel Ahmar Park, where participants gathered to watch the film, which documents aspects of Kobani’s resistance against attacks by ISIS mercenaries. The film highlights a pivotal period in the city’s history and the battles and sacrifices made to defend its land and residents.

The film revisits scenes depicting the resistance of fighters from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), highlighting their determination and resilience in repelling ISIS mercenaries’ attacks. Their resistance extended beyond the city, transforming Kobani into a symbol of popular resistance against “terrorism” and attracting widespread solidarity both locally and internationally.

The event forms part of activities organised to mark the International Day of Solidarity with Kobani. It aims to keep the memory of the resistance alive, raise awareness of the sacrifices made by the city’s residents, and emphasise the importance of standing in solidarity with the peoples of the region in confronting “terrorism” and defending freedom and life.
