The call for Autonomous Administration came as it released a statement on the second anniversary of the start of the Turkish aggression against Afrin canton in the winter of 2018, and the Autonomous Administration saluted the steadfastness of the people of Afrin and their insistence on returning to the home despite the difficulties.
The member of the administration, Aisha Nasser read the statement, in front of the building of the Executive Council of the Euphrates region in the city of Kobani, in the presence of a number of members and administrators in the institutions of the Autonomous Administration.
The statement stated:
“On this day in 2018, Turkish fascism and extremist terrorist groups carried out their brutal attack on the safe Afrin region in clear violation of Syrian sovereignty and international covenants. The Turkish state used in its offensive the most powerful weapons and pursued a policy of scorched earth as its mercenaries committed the most heinous crimes.
The people of Afrin, with all its components, have shown historical resistance, the Turkish state was unable to occupy it, so I resorted to using internationally prohibited weapons to intimidate its people, bombed villages and cities, committed massacres against civilians, and the world did not move against those crimes and violations, and the Syrian regime did not move to defend Syrian sovereignty, to remain Afrin people are alone in facing this aggression.
The Turkish state and its mercenaries did not stop there. Rather, they carried out terrorist practices such as killing, kidnapping and violating symptoms, to intimidate citizens and force them to displace in order to bring about demographic change, and to annex Syrian land to Turkish territory.
The Turkish state has not stopped its ambitions at the borders of Afrin, as it seeks to occupy the entire Middle East to restore its alleged terrorist empires, and to strike people in the Middle East with each other, as it exports terrorism to the world, and its inhuman and immoral practices continue in Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad.
With this anniversary, we salute the steadfastness of our people to return to Afrin, and we remember the martyrs of the resistance of the times and the resistance to dignity, and we call on all components of the Syrian people to join hands to continue the struggle for the liberation of Syria from occupation and terrorism, and we also call on the international community to carry out its responsibilities to protect the Syrian people from the terrorism of the Turkish state.
Glory and eternity to our martyrs.. Long live Syria free and proud
