In a special interview held by Hawar news agency with the general member of the Future Syria Party, the head of the organizational office in Manbij Ibrahim al-Mashi, and he talked about the Turkish efforts to establish a buffer zone in north Syria.
Ibrahim al-Mashi made clear the difference between the safe zone, which Turkey was striving to establish in north Syria, and the buffer zone, "In the safe zone, the multi-nationality forces would prevented to enter the depth of Turkey if Turkey entered the Syrian lands, while in the buffer zone, if Turkey entered the Syrian lands at a distance of 5 km, the forces would have the right to enter the depth of the Turkish lands at a distance of 5 km, so that Erdogan did not accept the buffer zone and demanded the safe zone claiming to preserve the Turkish national security." In this context, al-Mashi said, "Every country has the right to protect its national security, but within the state's borders not the borders of another state."
Ibrahim al-Mashi added, "We are defending our lands within our borders, while Erdogan is exceeding his state's borders and launching attacks against us. We do not strive to engage into battles neither with the Turkish state nor with the Syrian regime. We want dialogue and peace."
Ibrahim al-Mashi said, "We sufficiently enjoy self-control, and do not respond to his threats and statements. Those threats and statements threaten the security and stability in Syria and obstruct the political solution for the crisis."
Ibrahim al-Mashi pointed to Turkey's practicing the political blackmail against the United States by threatening it to withdraw from the NATO if it did not approve the establishment of the safe zone in the Syrian north, and he said. "We also practice the right of the legitimate defense of our territory, honor and ourselves. The lawful defense right is guaranteed in all international conventions and charters and the divine religions, and we hope that there will be signs for solving the Syrian crisis."
He added, "Giving Russia the green light by Turkey to enter Idlib may be for guaranteeing Russia's approval on establishing the safe zone in the Syrian north if there would be voting for the safe zone resolution to not collide the Russian Veto."
Ibrahim al-Mashi concluded, "It is difficult to construct the safe zone in north and east of Syria. The Syria people will not accept the existence of the Turkish forces on their territories. The best solution for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish state is to work on resolving the Syrian crisis," making clear the danger of the policy of occupation, demographic change and Turkification on the region.
