Al-Muallem: Ankara must stop supporting terrorists, withdraw from Syria

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem reiterated the need for Turkey to withdraw its forces from Syria and stop supporting "terrorist groups" to normalize relations between Damascus and Ankara.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said in an interview with Al-Meyadin T.V. said that they did not want a military confrontation with Turkey in Idlib, but stressed that they would not back down from imposing their control over Idlib as Syrian territory.

He called on Ankara to stop supporting terrorists and withdraw from Syrian territory, adding that they would consider it an occupying power if it did not withdraw its forces.

On the other hand, he added that he did not set conditions on Turkey, but set the basis for the logic of the relationship between two neighboring countries, stressing at the same time that the participation of Turkey in the meetings of Astana will not change anything on the ground.
