Algerian parliament meets Tuesday to approve the final vacancy for President's post

The Algerian parliament, with its chambers of the National Assembly and the National People's Assembly, will convene next Tuesday at 9 am at a special session to approve the confirmation of the final vacancy for the post of President of the Republic.

Before the parliament session, the joint parliamentary committee will meet to prepare the draft rules of procedure for the functioning of the parliament session in its two chambers next Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the National Assembly on Saturday.

The parliament convenes in its two chambers this morning to approve the final vacancy for the post of President of the Republic at the Palais des Nations. On the other hand, the joint parliamentary committee in its two chambers will meet on Sunday.

The joint parliamentary committee was set up by the speakers of Algerian Parliament Abdelkader Ben Saleh during a meeting of the chambers of the parliament on Thursday, chaired by deputy speaker of the National Assembly Saleh Koujail.

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika announced his resignation as president last Tuesday, after widespread protests against his rule that began on February 22 after announcing his intention to run for the fifth term.
