An American diplomat: Iranian-backed militias’ threat to our forces in Iraq remains significant

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs David Schenker said that the threat of "Iranian-backed militias" to US forces remains "significant".

He added that Washington was cautiously dealing with the declaration of a ceasefire announced by the Iranian-backed Hezbollah Brigade.

Speaking to reporters in a conference call, Schenker praised the previous work of Mustafa al-Kazemi, the chief of Iraq’s intelligence chief, who was assigned by Prime Minister Barham Salih to head the government on Thursday.
