Argentina classifies Hezbollah as a terrorist organization

Argentine authorities on Thursday decided to freeze Hezbollah's assets in the country and classified the Lebanese group, blamed for two attacks on its territory, a "terrorist organization."

The announcement came on the 25th anniversary of the bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires that killed 85 people.

Argentina blames the attack on Iran and Hezbollah, which deny responsibility.

Argentine President Mauricio Macri vowed last week to sign a decree making it the first Latin American country to consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

The bombing of the headquarters of the "Israeli-Argentine Association" in July 18, 1994 in the Argentine capital is the largest terrorist act in the history of the country.
