As usual, Turkey and its mercenaries reduce the water supply to Hasaka city

The co-chair of Municipalities and Environment Committee in Hasaka Canton, attributed the reasons for the lack of water supply to the Turkish occupation's failure to adhere to what was agreed upon about Allouk station, and to the violations of Turkish occupation state's mercenaries on the electricity line feeding the wells and pumping station.

Some neighborhoods of Hasaka city and its villages have been experiencing water cuts and a shortage of water pumping in other neighborhoods for more than a week, which has caused a severe shortage of drinking water and prompted the people to buy water, with fears of a new water crisis.

Hasaka city are mainly supplied with drinking water, from Allouk station, located in occupied Serê kani area, by Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, which are out of service from time to time, and are used as a weapon against the Syrians.

Regarding what the city is witnessing in terms of water cuts and low water pumping pressure, co-chair of Municipalities and Environment Committee in Hasaka Canton, Majda Amin, said, "The main reason for cutting off water on Hasaka city from Allouk station is the lack of water supply, and the occupation's failure to adhere to what was agreed upon, as well as the mercenaries' violations on the power lines feeding wells and the station."

Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries constantly cut off the water to more than a million residents of Hasaka and its countryside, in addition to the camps of IDPs, Since occupying Serê kani area on October 19, 2019, the water has cut off 25 times, despite the agreements concluded between so-called Russian guarantor and occupying power to not to use it as a weapon against the region.

Majda Amin confirmed that the lack of water supply from Allouk station is due to the occupations failure to adhere to the agreed terms, and said: "According to the recent agreements, it was supposed 20 wells in the occupied Serê kani area work, and feed the city of Hasaka and its villages through 4 pumps, at a rate of 50 percent".

Since the occupation of Allouk station, Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has been working on alternative emergency projects for Allouk water pumping station, most notably the project to draw water from Euphrates River last year, through the canals of Hasaka city, which is still under experiment.
