On Wednesday, a high-profile diplomatic delegation from the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the headquarters of the Foreign Relations Department of Democratic Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria in the town of Ain Issa.
The delegation was received by the co-chairs of the Department of Foreign Relations, and then a two-hour meeting between the two parties was held.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed the humanitarian situation and the humanitarian support that Belgium provides to the Autonomous Administration areas through the United Nations.
The Belgian diplomats confirmed that they will provide direct support for Autonomous Administration after this meeting, and will be faster and bigger.
The participants discussed the need to establish an international tribunal to prosecute Daesh prisoners that the Syrian Democratic Forces hold detainees, noting "This is an important and positive point and we will forward your message to the Belgian government to discuss the establishment of this court." the delegation said.
The Delegation stressed that the Belgian Government fully supported the participation of the Autonomous Administration in the political process and the political solution to Syria and the presence of its representatives at the Geneva Conference.
The delegation pointed out that with the political solution to the Syrian crisis and with resolution 2254, there can be no solution to the Syrian crisis without the participation of representatives of the DAA of Northern and Eastern Syria, and in particular the Kurds.
The delegation stressed that they supported the establishment of an international tribunal to prosecute prisoners in accordance with international law and that they emphasized the participation of the DAA in the solution to the Syrian crisis.
Sophie Karlshausen, the Belgian foreign affairs representative, said in a statement to the media "At the outset, I would like to say that I am happy to be here, and I would like to thank the DAA in the north and east of Syria for their hospitality," she told the media.
