Blinken made it clear during a press conference with his Saudi counterpart after the joint ministerial meeting, which took place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, that his country will not normalize relations with Syria, indicating that the Damascus government does not yet deserve acceptance or recognition.
The US Secretary of State also made it clear that Washington's goals in Syria are similar to those of regional partners.
For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan indicated that resolving the crisis in Syria requires dialogue with the government, stressing that Damascus has made clear commitments to address the concerns of the international community.
