Ceasefire agreement between Palestinians, Israelis mediated by Egypt

The Israelis and Palestinians reached a ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian factions and Israel, mediated by Egypt to end the escalation in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel.

According to Reuters, a Palestinian official said that the understanding of the cease-fire begins Monday at 4.30 am (01.30 GMT).

A Palestinian official said "the cease-fire has been provided that it is reciprocal and synchronized, and provided that the occupation implement the understandings to break the siege on the Gaza Strip."

On Sunday evening, 25 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli raid on the Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip in the most serious escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the war in 2014.

Israel launched a series of strikes in response to rocket fire from the besieged Palestinian sector controlled by Hamas.

The Palestinian authorities said in a statement that the Israeli targets in Gaza included the internal Palestinian security headquarters, while continued on Sunday evening the firing of rockets and Israeli strikes.
