Co-chair of Legislative Council in al-Jazeera: We can prosecute Daesh mercenaries

The co-chair of the Legislative Council in al-Jazeera region and lawyer, Ariya Mullah Ahmed, pointed out that all jurists and judges in the north and east of Syria are ready to try Daesh within the Syrian territory. "We take risks for the trial of Daesh and Turkey is trying to release and restore Daesh to the Levant and Iraq."

During the liberation campaigns, the Syrian Democratic Forces arrested hundreds of Daesh mercenaries. Immediately after the declaration of the full elimination of Daesh in the north and east of Syria, the Democratic Autonomous Administration called for the establishment of an international court on the territory of northern and eastern Syria to prosecute Daesh mercenaries. The administration attributed its claim to evidence condemning Daesh in northeastern Syria.

Officials in the north-eastern regions of Syria see the need to speed up the prosecution of mercenaries, because they pose a threat to the security of the region and the world in case of any emergency, in the light of the repeated Turkish threats to launch attacks on northern and eastern Syria.

The co-chair of the Legislative Council in al-Jazeera region, Ariya Mulla Ahmed, pointed out that Daesh trial in northern and eastern Syria is the only solution to achieve justice.

We have not received any explicit answer from international community

We have called on the international community several times to form an international tribunal and we have not received a clear result or answer from the international community, especially after the international forum on Daesh, which was held for three days," she said. "We are fully prepared to begin prosecution for their crimes, and to collect evidence proving the crime of the offender."

The head of the Legislative Council in al-Jazeera region, recalled that "the law emphasizes the punishment of the offender according to the place where the offense had occurred, and the place where the offense occurred are Syria and Iraq."

Ariya Mulla Ahmed noted that they had requested the participation of international and experienced and competent Iraqi judges to participate in Daesh prosecution alongside local judges.

Since March 25, the Autonomous Administration's officials in northern and eastern Syria have demanded the establishment of an international tribunal to prosecute Daesh, but the administration has received no response.

Ariya explained that they had not received international support in relation to the case of the prosecution of mercenaries.

We are risking Daesh trial, but Turkey is trying to release them
