Culture-Art Center opened in al-Shahba

The Culture and Art Movement in Afrin canton opened its first center in al-Shahba canton village on behalf of the Martyr Merwan for Culture and Art in Babens village in Fafin district.

The Culture and Art Movement in Afrin canton opened its first center in al-Shahba canton villages after centers have been opened in Serdem and Berxwedan camps during a celebration.

The residents of Babens village and its surrounding villages and the members of the council and the commune of the village participated in the celebration.

The celebration began with holding a minute of silence. Then, the co-chair of Babens village’s council Fikret Mohammed delivered a speech and emphasized the importance of preserving the culture because it is considered the identity of the peoples. She added that Afrin people would continue their resistance in al-Shahba.

After that, the administrative in the Martyr Merwan Center for Culture and Art Ahmed Resho delivered a speech and assured that they will continue their cultural works and protecting Afrin’s art and folklore.

The celebration included presenting artistic performances by Berxwedan Camp Band for singing and Babens Village Band for theater and the dance band.

The celebration ended with cutting the opening ribbon by the mother of the martyr Merwan, the fighter in the ranks of the Popular Defense Forces (HPG) who martyred in the youths’ house in 2009 amid chanting the slogans that glorify the martyrs.
