In the last year, Deir Ezzor underwent a series of terrorist attacks backed by ISIS sleeper cells and supported by regional powers most notably Turkey, as chiefs and notables of clans were the target, in addition to civil servants of the Autonomous Administration in Deir Ezzor with the aim to undermine the democratic nation project and the Autonomous Administration.
Administrator in the Deir Ezzor Internal Security Forces, Ahmed al-Jasem, confirmed that the security issue in Deir Ezzor is complicated but their forces are on guard, as proper measures are taken to settle security.
Al-Jasem said that the situation in Deir Ezzor underwent a state of tension and instability in the last year on different arenas and especially the security one, noting that ''the security issue in Deir Ezzor is complicated and interlaced due to powers that prowl the democratic nation project in North Eastern Styria generally and in the Deir Ezzor Region specifically.
Al-Jasem added'' all that happened in the last year of assassinations against notables in the region and figures in the Deir Ezzor Civil Council was aiming to drive a wedge between the people and notables in the region and the Autonomous Administration and to strike at the Democratic nation project and the Autonomous Administration and to stop all services delivered by the administration''.
In relation to the consolidation of security in the region, al-Jasem said '' the Internal Security Forces are on duty to maintain security and stability in the region, on this many procedures were taken and checking points were created, in addition to intense security campaigns, and taking into custody many elements of the ISIS sleeper cells in separate areas in Deir Ezzsor''.
Al-Jasem noted that some regional powers, especially Turkey, in addition to elements affiliated to Iranian militias '' spare no efforts to strike at the democratic nation project, after three years of liberation that was followed by better living and economic conditions'',
