Egypt announces: no agreement on Renaissance Dam yet

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Monday that his country expects that Ethiopia will honor its pledge not to fill the reservoir of the Renaissance Dam, before reaching an agreement in this regard based on the Declaration of Principles Agreement signed in 2015 between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister added that all efforts made during the negotiations did not lead to reaching an agreement, stressing that the Security Council has the final say in international crises, expressing at the same time its hope not to return to it again.

Shoukry's comments came in conjunction with the announcement by the Egyptian Ministry of Irrigation, on Monday, of the conclusion of talks on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which lasted 11 days continuously, under the auspices of the African Union, and that a mini-African summit be held to discuss the file.
