EU extends sanctions on Iran

The Council of the European Union announced on Monday the extension of sanctions against Iran for another year until 13 April 2020.

The European Union on Monday issued a resolution extending the sanctions imposed on Iran until April 13, 2020, according to Russia Today(RT).

The Union described the decision to extend restrictive measures in the face of serious human rights violations, including a travel ban, assets freeze against 82 persons and one entity.

The ban on the export of equipment that may be used in Iran has also been imposed in "internal repression" and telecommunications control devices.

The sanctions were first imposed in 2011 and have since been extended on an annual basis.
