Explosion rocks missile factory in Ankara

An explosion at a missile production plant near the Turkish capital killed several people.

The fire occurred in the Elmadağ district near Ankara at a missile and warhead production plant, owned by the defense machinery builder and chemical corporation MKE.

The factory is located on the outskirts of the capital, in a mountainous area far from residential areas. Before the fire broke out and smoke appeared over the factory, an explosion was heard, as a result of which a number of people were killed.

A source in the rescue services said at least five people were still under the rubble after the blast.
