Explosions rock the capital Kyiv; Ukrainian forces destroy a Russian military convoy

Explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, at dawn today, while Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was heading to inspect his soldiers in the region, while Ukrainian special forces destroyed a Russian military convoy in Donetsk Province.

In the latest field developments, 4 explosions were heard in the early hours of this morning in the Ukrainian capital, hitting an apartment complex near the city center, which led to a fire. This historic district includes a series of universities, restaurants and art galleries.

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, reported that there were 4 explosions in the capital this morning, adding that the ambulance crews went to the Shenkivsky district in the vicinity of Kyiv, stressing that more detailed information will be available later, as "residents are being rescued and evacuated from two buildings."

No information was immediately available on possible victims.

This comes as news agencies quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was inspecting Russian units in Ukraine.

Russian Defense Ministry announced that "the forces of the Luhansk Republic liberated the cities of Severodonetsk and Borovskoy completely" from what it called "Ukrainian armed formations", with the support of the Russian army.

The ministry said in a statement that the territory of the industrial zone of the "Azot" plant in Severodonetsk has become under the control of the "Luhansk Forces".

In a related context, the Ukrainian special forces destroyed a Russian military convoy in the Donetsk region.

The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces Command said that the Russian convoy included "armored vehicles and anti-infantry vehicles", as well as transport and loading vehicles and trucks for transporting fuel, according to what Al-Hurra Network reported.
