France describes Erdogan's statements as unacceptable, recalls ambassador

On Saturday, the French presidency described Turkey's Erdogan statement as "unacceptable" against his counterpart Emmanuel Macron, and announced that the French ambassador was recalled from Ankara for consultations.

The French presidency denounced Erdogan's statements in which he questioned the "mental health" of his French counterpart against the background of his stances towards Muslims.

The presidency said in a comment to France Press that "President Erdogan's statements are unacceptable. Escalating language and vulgarity are not a way to deal."

It added, "We ask Erdogan to change his policy course, because it is dangerous from all aspects. We will not enter into sterile arguments and do not accept insults."

The presidency announced that the French ambassador to Ankara had been recalled for consultations.
