and to obtain the legitimate rights of the despotic peoples by the fascist nationalist regimes in Syria and neighboring countries so the Kurds and the people of the region played a strong regulatory role in the field of popular protection to be able to achieve great victories during revolution of 19 July, which has been protected so far.
In this three-part dossier entitled "The Importance of the Popular War to Prevent the Extermination …" Society Protection Forces are a Necessity like Water and Bread. “We will touch upon the concept of protection and the development phase of protection in Rojava and the Syrian north in general and its role in winning the battle at all levels, and the protection of its values and gains in this integrated popular organization. As well as the experiences of the peoples of the world in the protection of their values from the external enemy, and what makes and constitutes components of northern and eastern Syria to repel any external threat to its gains and values.
The definition of protection and Leaders' warnings of the genocide
Linguistically, protection is defined as Self-Defense against an attack on life, or the defense of matters relating to the person, community, animal, group, and even all living things. If protection comes in front of a potential attack, then the concept of “attack” should also be explained. An attack means killing, exterminating, being subjected to (intimidation, arrest, etc.), or the seizure, of any object or organism that he calls prey.
During the struggle of the Kurdistan Liberation, a new definition of the concept of protection was called “legitimate Defense”. However, it is “the organization of society for itself and the struggle within this framework, to protect itself at all levels”. This can be achieved through military organization and by protecting all values.
The leader of the Kurdish people, Abdullah Ocalan, in his book "Defending the Kurds among the jaws of genocide" that it must be wary of the genocide, which carries with it all kinds of genocide. “I'm not just talking about physical extermination,” he says. “I'm talking about cultural genocide and all kinds of genocide.”
The revolutionary people in Rojava and northeast Syria … How did it establish itself and protect its values?
Under the mentality and slogan of “one language, one nationality, one state, one flag” all the diverse values of the peoples and ethnicities of northern and eastern Syria have been denied, especially the Kurdish people.
The Syrian regime did not recognize the Kurdish citizenship rights in Rojava and its culture and traditions. It also denies the various nationalities in the region such as Syriac, Assyrian, Turkmen, Kurdish, Circassian, and Armenian, but keeps them under their policies under the roof of religion to fuse their traditions and culture in the crucible of Baathist racism. The regime considered every attempt by the Kurds and others to obtain their rights an attack and crushed them under the pretext of protecting the state.
During the Syrian Revolution and the July 19 Revolution, the peoples of northern and eastern Syria were in danger of annihilation and a new Ottoman occupation. But the organization and the will to self-protection among the components of the region united, failed the plans of the occupation and strengthened the organization more in the face of any attack
The people of Rojava and northern Syria began to follow the principle of protection and legitimate defense mentioned above, since the beginning of 2004 when the Baathist regime reached the height of its fascism and racism against the Kurdish people, on 12 March 2004, the Qamshilo uprising, as a spark to the people's awareness of protection after the massacres that will occur if they remain idle and that they will be exterminated physically, culturally and socially by the existing despotic regimes.
Therefore, small units of Kurdish youths were formed within the community to form the nucleus of a revolutionary popular organization that protects their values from genocide, to take organization, training and awareness as a platform for the revolution towards freedom and the protection of values.
With the beginning of the Syrian revolution, in which the Kurdish people played the largest role, by supporting them and their involvement in the revolution for freedom and democratization. It also began to enter foreign agendas and foreign powers that were dominating and occupying powers, which supported armament and terrorism to distort the revolution. Therefore, the Kurds and the components of Rojava and northern Syria declared their revolution on July 19, 2012 in Kobani, where YPG then declared itself as the protector of the values of the revolution and society. After those popular groups arrived, which have been established for years in protection committees, reached a level where they can defend themselves against any external danger.
The people organized themselves and protected their moral and material values in the simplest way.
With the Autonomous Administration system was being announced at the time in Rojava, the protection committees played their role in each commune, council and institution formed within the administration, and were considered a cornerstone for the protection of this national social system formed by the people of the region and led by its people.
With these civilian committees, the components of the area were able to protect some of them in every village, neighborhood, city and road from vandalism, theft and the entry of mercenaries into their areas, using light weapons such as Kalashnikovs, pistols, or usual hunting weapons are in the hands of the people. With this system, everyone is protecting himself and his values in the region in a collective spirit and a great social and national awareness in order to preserve his gains.
The will in the battles of Serêkaniyê and Sheikh Maksoud, the popular anti-terrorism and mercenaries, culminated in victory.
By virtue of the strength of the popular organization in terms of protection, coupled with its ideas of freedom and democracy and its willingness to achieve it, the people were able to counter the largest terrorist attack and invasion on the peoples of the region, the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, in both Serêkaniyê and Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood in Aleppo, when the people joined forces and Committees Protection had played its role in the legitimate defense of themselves and their gains.
In Serêkaniyê, more than 28 factions and armed gangs supported by Turkey, armed with full military equipment and numbering more than 30 thousand, were led by Jabhat al-Nusra and the organization Ahrar al-Sham terrorist movement, to attack the people of the region, which carries only small arms and ammunition. But their powerful weapon was the will, organization and good tactics against the enemy.
The number of the YPG's fighters do not exceed 300 fighters in that battle, with each protection committee in the communes, village councils and countries playing their part in protecting children, women and the elderly and securing roads, villages and towns near the front.
The battle was a popular war against mercenaries backed by Turkey and its allies in the region. The Kalashnikov, with only a few munitions, was in the hands of every fighter, he confronts a tank of mercenaries and their heavy heavy weapons. In an unequal war on all military levels, the people were able to defeat the mercenaries in a historic battle that failed the plans of the countries that interested in Syrian territory.
Similarly, in Sheikh Maqsoud, the green spot inside the blackness of blood and destruction in Aleppo, Syria's largest and most populous city, it was characterized by peaceful co-existence and popular solidarity among its components: Kurds, Arabs, Syriac, Armenians and Turkmen, who since the beginning of the revolution formed their own protection committees. They did not succumb to the tyranny of the Syrian regime or the attacks of the mercenaries of Jabhat al-Nusra and other armed gangs that were killing the people in the name of the Free Army at the time.
لاThe legitimate rights that have been gained and robbed by the Syrian regime and the mercenaries who floated in the Syrian field during the revolution, it is now popularly protected and because the dangers and threats have not been interrupted from the beginning to the present, protection is necessary as water and bread for the components of northern and eastern Syria, Because it is a mixture of diverse nationalities and religions, they have come together on a system to protect their moral and material values. Without protection, physical, cultural and social annihilation will affect them at any moment.
The revolution of 19 July has brought together the experiences of many popular revolutions and uprisings in the world and even surpassed them in thought, organization and popular will to date. For its democratic experience, social order and integrated protection by its peoples, from the popular organization to the thought of the democratic nation and the brotherhood of the peoples to create a ground that strengthens national and ethnic cohesion even more, as well as a democratic policy in the project of Autonomous Administration without the demolition of a state or the transfer of power to another authority over the people, Adopting a system of legitimate fundamental protection from the components of society that has fought wars to preserve its values and gains over the past 8 years and strengthens its protection against any potential external or terrorist threat to its regions.
