Turkey occupied many areas in Syria, including Afrin, whose inhabitants were displaced, and the occupation exercised crimes and brutal practices against the rest who stayed, and in turn civil society organizations and unions in Al-Shahba canton called in a statement read in Serdem camp of Ahdath district on the international community to undertake its humanitarian duty.
The statement was read in both Arabic and Kurdish by members of civil society organizations, Guli Jaafar and Zanar Alloush, and it read:
"In light of the difficult economic conditions that Syria in general and al-Shahba in particular are passing through, due to the ten-year-old war, in which all international and regional interests overlapped.
Among them is the fascist Turkish state, which had the primary role in destroying Syria, displacing its people, occupying the Syrian north, including the Kurdish Afrin, forcibly displacing its people to al-Shahba regions, applying all unethical and inhuman practices against its children and people, and making it an approach to daily violations in the hands of those Syrian armed factions affiliated with it against our people in Afrin, which is still continuing in front of the full view of the international community, and all humanitarian organizations, and because of the blockade imposed on our people in Al-Shahba, and it was our duty to us, civil society organizations in Al-Shahba, to stand by our people and alleviate their suffering, as we made contributions from unions and organizations to help the poverty-stricken in displacement camps.
We, in turn, civil society organizations and unions appeal to the international community and all human, human and civil organizations to carry out their humanitarian duty towards our people in the camps, and to pressure the Turkish government to stop all violations and practices that it undertakes, and to withdraw from all Syrian lands, including occupied Afrin.
