Iran: Americans are destabilizing security, blew up oil tankers

Iran accused the United States on Friday of blowing up two oil tankers in the Sea of Oman and destabilizing the region.

"The Americans are destabilizing security in the region and they blew up the two oil tankers in the Sea of ​​Oman," Iranian Defense Minister General Amir Hatami said in comments carried by the Fars news agency.

"The United States is trying to create a state of fear and terror from Iran," he said.

"The Saudis are blindly supporting America in all issues, even without taking into consideration their interests," Khatami said.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Thursday (June 15th) that the United States believes Iran is responsible for attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman, asserting that this is the view of the US government that the Iranian government is responsible.

Two oil tankers were hit by explosions on the Sea of ​​Oman on Thursday (June 15th), triggered by a possible attack. Tehran said the ships were linked to Japan, describing the attack as suspicious as it coincided with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to the country.

US President Donald Trump has ordered military strikes against Iran in retaliation for the shooting out of a US military drone, but it has declined at the moment of implementation. Senior members of the US Democratic Party, Trump, also warned President Donald against the risk of being dragged into a war with Iran.
