Irrigation projects rehabilitated in al-Raqqa

The Agricultural Committees of the Councils of al-Hamarat and al-Karama towns in the eastern countryside of al-Raqqa have rehabilitated and organized two irrigation water pumps, serving more than 7,000 dunums of agricultural lands.

After work for nearly two months, the Agriculture Committee of the People's Assembly in al-Hamarat completed the rehabilitation of Marouda on the irrigation project at al-Hamarat hamlets east of al-Raqqa city. The committee also managed to rehabilitate the irrigation pumps in al-Hamarat and al-Raqqa Samra after replacing the pump pipes to irrigate more than 7,000 dunums of agricultural lands.

The Agriculture Committee in al-Hamarat also rehabilitated al-Raed Channel Project to pull the water completely which extends for more than 45 km along with its branches which extend for about 60 km, remove dirt and soils, and fill the nozzles from the ground, from which the channel water leaks.

The co-chair of the Agriculture Committee of the People's Assembly in al-Hamarat Abdullah Hamadeh said: "Irrigation projects in the eastern countryside of al-Raqqa have not been maintained and rehabilitated for 8 years."

Hamada pointed out that they seek to promote the agricultural reality again in the region, noting that 85% of the people of the eastern countryside in the city of al-Raqqa depend on agriculture to secure their livelihood.
