The people of the regions of northern and eastern Syria managed to thwart all the plans that targeted their presence, and they preserved their areas by unifying their ranks in all fields under the Autonomous Administrations founded first in al-Jazeera region on January 21, 2014.
Afram Issak, the member of the Executive Body of the Syriac Union Party in Syria praised the importance of national unity among the components of northern and eastern Syria. He said, “In general, the national unity, position and concept are evidence of the strength of the Syrian people, and I believe that some of the things that happened in the Syrian interior were caused due to the lack of the national unity among the people’s spectra.”
Isaak noted that the countries involved in the Syrian crisis aimed to divide the Syrian people on a sectarian and national basis, and create a rift and division between the Kurdish and the Arab, between the Arab and the Syriac and other nationalities present in Syria. He said: “These factors were a reason for the fragmentation of the Syrian people, and their inability to reach a political solution that satisfies the Syrians and saves them from the conflict that has existed since 9 years.”
Afram Issak touched on the national unity among the components of northern and eastern Syria, and made clear that the project which was established in the regions of northern and eastern Syria is based according to a social contract adopted by all components, and according to which, the components maintained the national cohesion and living in safety. He said: “Therefore, the northern and eastern regions of Syria were known to be safer than the rest of the Syrian regions, and the safe refuge for the expatriates from other Syrian regions.”
Afram Issak pointed out that the social contract preserved the cultural, national and linguistic rights of all components, and formed a strong cohesion among the components. He noted that the components of the region with their unity maaged to protect the region and promote the national concept.
Isaak said: “We have already achieved the national cohesion that is required of us at this stage, and through it, we have achieved great victories. With our national cohesion, we can get rid of the wars and conflicts within Syria.”
Isaak emphasized that as a Syriac component, they were able through their participation with the peoples in northern and eastern Syria to achieve the Syriac aspirations, and he said: “The first of these aspirations is that we are among the first founders of the Autonomous Administration, and we have achieved the goals of our people such as language, compatibility with components and the preservation of our people’s rights.”
The member of the Executive Board of the Syriac Union Party in Syria Afram Isaak stated that through the national projects presented by the administration that was established by the unity of components, they were able to convey the voice of the Syriac component to the international forums, and said: “We were able to show the international community that the Syriac people are an authentic people, and that we are a part of the Syrian people and must be part of any solution to Syria. This is what appeared in the Geneva and Astana conferences; therefore, our cohesion and agreement on a national concept is a success of the political process and a success of a general political solution in Syria.”
