Khazali: Turkey seeks to attack  Shengal

Leader of the Asaib Ahel al-Haq, Qais Khazali said that plans are being hatched by Turkey to launch an attack on Shengal in summer, calling on the Iraqi Federal Government to take the necessary procedures in this regard.   

On January 22nd, 2021, Erdogan threatened to carried out an attack on the Shengal Province, saying: '' out of a sudden we can come at one night'', after a visit paid by the Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar to both Baghdad and Hewler respectively on January 18th, and 19th, meeting officials in Iraq and Southern Kurdistan, that was followed by warnings against the Turkish Occupation State to occupy Shengal.  

In an interview on the Iraqi Itijah News Channel, Khazali affirmed that information signify Erdogan intends to attack Shengal in the coming period, adding '' Turkey seeks to occupy Shenghal, Tal Afar, the Nineveh Plain and vast areas in Kirkuk'', indicating that the first step is going to be ''Shengal occupation''.

Khazali called on the Iraqi Prme Minister Mustafa Kadhimi to '' arm the military airspace system to stand up to the Turkish Occupation and to purchase an airspace from any country(…) to protect the sovereignty of the country''.
