The residents of al-Jazira region condemned the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries on Afrin on January 20, 2018, during massive demonstrations.
Qamishlo people took part in a massive demonstration to condemn the Turkish occupation's attacks on Afrin. The demonstration started from Mounir Habib Street, located in the western part of the city, with the participation of representatives of many civil institutions.
The demonstrators carried olive branches, pictures of Afrin children that showed the crimes of the Turkish occupation against them, and banners with "Where is the conscience of humanity," "Hear the cry of Afrin's children," and "Save Afrin's children" written on.
After demonstrators have arrived at the building of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the city of Qamishlo, Issam Ibrahim, the Member of the Martyrs' Families Council in Qamishlo city delivered a speech in which he said: "Three years ago, resistance was shown by our forces for 58 days in a row, responding to the attacks of the Turkish enemy, while the whole world got surprised about that."
For her part, the Administrator of the Democratic Union Party in Qamishlo district, Samira Mohamed, confirmed that the ambitions and plans of the Turkish occupier will not be fulfilled. She said: "We all know that the Turkish occupation is trying to implement its occupational projects and eliminate the existence of the Kurdish people."
The demonstration ended with chanting slogans that saluted Afrin's resistance.
Dozens of components of Tirbê Spiyê district; Kurds, Arabs and Syriacs went out in a demonstration in which they called on the international community to bear its responsibilities towards the crimes that Turkey commits on a daily basis in Afrin.
The demonstrators gathered in front of the Kongra Star headquarter, east of the district, and roamed the Central Market, chanting against the occupation, and carrying olive branches.
The demonstrators carried banners reading: "No to the occupation, it is time to protect the revolution," and stood in front of the district center. There, many words were delivered, among them a speech on behalf of the Kongra Star by the Administrator Najah al-Qesu, as she said: "Afrin people and fighters presented the most wonderful heroic epics within 58 days, but the conspiring countries assisted in occupying Afrin and displacing its people."
In addition, a speech was given on behalf of the Democratic Union Party by the Administrator, Diyar Hassen, and affirmed that all components of north and east Syria will continue their struggle until the liberation of Afrin and all Syrian lands, stressing that "the occupation will not be able to undermine the will of the Kurdish people."
Hundreds Tel Hamis district residents gathered in front of the Traffic Center to launch a demonstration condemning Turkey's occupation of Afrin, as the demonstration roamed the main streets of the district, during which the demonstrators carried olive branches, pictures of Afrin massacres victims, pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the flags of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the People Protection Units (YPG) and Women Protection Units (YPJ).
The participants also held banners condemning the attacks on Afrin and its occupation, affirming the struggle to liberate Afrin.
They stood for a minute of silence in front of the Martyrs Square in the center of the district, then the Administrator at the Kongra Star in Tel Hamis district Nira al-Hamko delivered a speech in which she said: "We meet today, on the third anniversary of the occupation of Afrin by the Turkish occupier, to condemn and denounce the silence of the international community on the crimes committed against civilians in Afrin."
The Member of the Democratic Union Party, Heyal al-Khuwair, gave a speech in which he said: "The intention behind occupying Afrin was to strike co-existence and break the will of the people in north and east Syria." He added: "This plot is a continuation of the February 15th conspiracy that befell the leader Abdullah Ocalan."
The people of Tel Brak district of Qamishlo canton took part in a demonstration denouncing the occupation of Afrin by the Turkish army and its mercenaries.
The demonstration started in front of al-Fern (the Bakery) Roundabout in the district, in which the demonstrators carried banners that read: "No to the occupation of Afrin, it is time for freedom, Afrin is a legend and anthem of freedom, Afrin is the flame of freedom," raising pictures of victims of the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation army against civilians in Afrin.
The demonstration stopped at the Martyrs' Roundabout in the center of the district, then the Co-chair of the Martyrs' Families Council of Tel Brak district, Wa'ad Aleiwi, gave a speech in which he denounced the attacks of the Turkish occupation army on Afrin, and pledged to continue the struggle until its liberation from the Turkish occupation.
For its part, the Administrator at the Kongra Star Conference in Tel Brak district, Reem Abdel Ilah, delivered a speech denouncing the Turkish occupation's attacks on Afrin and describing it as the continuity of the plot against the leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Hundreds of people from Girkê Legê district in Qamishlo canton took part in a demonstration condemning the Turkish attacks on Afrin.
The demonstrators carried pictures of the martyrs who were martyred in the Resistance of the Age, and olive branches, chanting slogans that saluted Afrin's resistance and denounced the crimes of the Turkish occupation.
The demonstration started from Martyr Xebat Square to roam the main streets. Then, it stopped in the center of the district, and there the Co-chair of Girkê Legê District Council, Mohamed Jamil, delivered a speech in which he denounced Turkey's occupation of Afrin and said: "Afrin was one of the safest areas, but the Turkish occupation was not satisfied about the security that Afrin people used to enjoy, so it occupied it, displaced its people, and committed illegal crimes against its original inhabitants."
The people of Tel Koçer district of Qamishlo canton organized a demonstration denouncing the Turkish aggression against Afrin canton, in which hundreds of people from the district, members of civil society institutions and Internal Security Forces participated.
The demonstration started in front of al-Shawaf School in the center of the district, and roamed the main street to stop near the People's Municipality in the district. There, the Co-chair of the District Council, Nawaf al-Khed'an, denounced the occupation of Afrin, called on the Syrian people to join hands to confront the attacks of the occupation and said: "We must band together at this stage to defeat any conspiracy and policy against us."
Thousands of Dêrik components, representatives of political parties, women's organizations, and civil society institutions gathered in front of the Martyrs' Families Foundation Center, from there a protest began condemning Turkey's occupation of Afrin.
The demonstration took place in the central market in the city, amid chanting slogans saluting Afrin's resistance. The demonstrators also raised banners with "No to the occupation, time has come to protect the revolution's gains, we condemn the international silence about Afrin" written on. In addition, women and children held olive branches and pictures of the martyrs and elderly who were martyred during the Turkish bombardment.
The demonstrators headed towards Mar Shemoni Church, to turn the demonstration into a mass gathering there, amid slogans condemning the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries' bombardment.
Having held for a minute of silence, the Co-chair of the People's Municipality in Dêrik region, Fermez Hamo, delivered a speech and said: "The occupying Turkish state and its mercenaries bombed the city of Afrin and its environs to displace its defenseless people, and settle mercenaries in Afrin city."
The mass gathering ended amid mothers' trills and slogans saluting Afrin resistance.
In Amuda district, the demonstration started in front of the Free Women's Square, and headed to the Martyr Jihad Square in the center of the district, in which the people raised banners with "No to war on childhood, Erdogan is children's murderer, where is the conscience of humanity, support Afrin's children" written on.
The demonstrators raised pictures of children who were martyred as a result of the Turkish occupation army's bombing of Afrin canton.
The participants in the demonstration gathered in front of the Martyr Jihad Square and stood for a minute of silence, then the witness to the massacres committed by the Turkish occupation in Afrin, Suad Nassan, gave a speech in which she called on the Syrian people to escalate struggle against the occupation and said: "After three years passed since Turkey's occupation of Afrin, it became clear that it has greater ambitions, and seeks to occupy all regions of north-east Syria, so we have to be ready to defend our land and our dignity."
In ed-Dirbasiyah, thousands of people from ed-Darbasiyah district and its countryside went out in a demonstration, holding pictures of the victims who were martyred and injured in the Turkish attack, and pictures of the martyrs who were martyred in defense of it.
Residents gathered in front of the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Center, and the demonstration roamed the main streets in the district, reaching the Martyrs' Square. There, the demonstrators held a minute of silence.
Mohamed Hussein spoke on behalf of the Autonomous Administration, and said: "Today marks the third anniversary of the attack of the Turkish state and its terrorist mercenaries of Jabhet al-Nusra and ISIS remnants on Afrin city, amid international collusion, using all heavy weapons and NATO advanced force, all this before the eyes of the countries that stood silent about violations and Turkey's massacres against Afrin people."
Hussein noted that the attacks on Afrin city and its occupation by Turkey "are an attack on the gains of the peoples of north and east Syria with all its components, and on the democratic nation project that this people has built."
Hussein concluded his speech by saying: "The resistance of freedom fighters and Afrin people lasted for 58 days in the face of the second force in NATO, which was the Resistance of the Age because they took a principle of resistance is life, and prevailed by their will and struggle."
Thousands of components of al-Hasakah city and Serêkaniyê camp's displaced revolted against the occupation of Afrin city, on the third anniversary of its occupation, in two separate demonstrations.
The two demonstrations were organized by the Kongra Star in coordination with al-Hasakah Region Administration, and the demonstration that was organized in al-Hasakah city center began in front of the People's Municipality in the Gweiran neighborhood, chanting slogans that saluted Afrin's resistance and the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces, carrying olive branches, and banners that read: "No to the occupation, it is time to protect the revolution, women, rise up for Afrin."
Upon the arrival of the demonstrators to the municipal stadium, they stood for a minute of silence. This was followed by a speech in the name of the Autonomous Administration which was delivered by Abdel Ghani Oso, in which he said: "On the same date as today, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries attacked Afrin city, and they are continuing their attacks on areas of north and east Syria until now, as they want to occupy more areas and cities."
Abdel Ghani Oso added: "It is the duty of north and east Syria's people with all its components to stand together, and support the Syrian Democratic Forces, as we have fought the enemies and terrorism with each other; Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and other components."
Oso indicated that the violations committed by the Turkish occupier in all regions are not by chance, but rather in order to break the region peoples' will.
In Washokani camp, the Kongra Star organized, in coordination with the camp's council, a demonstration under the slogan "No to the Turkish occupation, it is time to protect the revolution."
The demonstrators gathered in front of the camp's council, carrying pictures of martyrs, flags of the People and Women Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces, in addition to banners that read: "The assassination of the three female fighter Sakine, Leyla and Fidan is the assassination of every female struggler in the world."
The demonstrators chanted slogans that saluted Afrin's resistance and condemned the Turkish occupation and its attacks on the region, expressing their discontent with these attacks.
During the demonstration which stopped at the end of the camp, the Kongra Star Administrator in Serêkaniyê camp, Gulistan Mohamed, gave a speech in which she recalled the third year of the Turkish occupation of Afrin region on January 20, 2018.
Gulistan explained during her speech that Afrin region was the center of safety and the source of peace, and that the goal of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries of the military operation they launched on Afrin was to expel the people who used to live in safety and stability, and to change the demographics of the region.
In Tel Tamr district, which is witnessing repeated attacks by the Turkish occupation and the mercenaries of the so-called "Syrian National Army", hundreds of residents and the displaced from Afrin, and members of the city councils gathered in front of the Martyrs' Families Council in the city center to organize a protest condemning the third anniversary of the start of the attacks on Afrin city.
The demonstration began in front of the Martyrs' Families Council to roam the main streets of the city, with a large banner reading "No to the occupation, it is time to protect the revolution," in addition to raising olive branches, flags and symbols of the Syrian Democratic Forces and political parties.
Upon the arrival of the demonstrators to the Electricity Roundabout Street, the demonstration turned into a mass gathering, holding a minute of silence, after which several words were delivered in the name of the Kongra Star Coordination in al-Hasakah province by the Member Lilav Hussein, and in the name of Tal Tamr District Council by Ahmed Haidar.
At the beginning of her speech, Lilav Hussein recalled the third anniversary of the Turkish occupation of Afrin, and said: "This history is very painful and bears great pain for all the peoples of the region."
Lilav stressed that the Kurdish people have not accepted insults and slavery throughout history, and "will not accept this by the Turkish occupation. With pain, our resistance and insistence on liberating our occupied areas from the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries are increasing."
For his part, Ahmed Haidar said: "On the third anniversary of the occupation of Afrin, we have a message to the occupiers which is that Afrin will return to its people with the resistance of our military forces and the people of the region."
He added: "The enemies of the region are trying to break our will, but they must know that nobody can undermine the region peoples' resistance."
The demonstration ended with chanting the slogans that saluted the Resistance of the Age, glorified the martyrs, and called for resistance in the face of the occupation.
