Moscow calls on Turkey to abandon provocative comments on Syria

Moscow has called for abandoning the provocative comments on the Syrian settlement, in a reference to Turkish figures.

"We received with surprise statements of the Turkish leader of the People Movement Party, Dawlet Bahceli, on February 11th , in which he tried to hold Russia and the Syrian government responsible for the killing of Turkish military personnel in Syria, and called on his country's leadership to reconsider the Russian-Turkish relations," the Russian Foreign Ministry's Information and Press Office said in a statement.

"We believe that in light of the tense situation in northwestern Syria, restraint must be maintained and provocative comments that do not promote substantive dialogue on the Syrian settlement should be abandoned," the statement added.

"We consider it unacceptable to use tragic events to try to "gather points" in an internal political debate."
