On anniversary of invading Afrin ... MSD holds regime and Russia responsible

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) held the Syrian regime and the Russian Federation responsible for invading Afrin by Turkey, and said: “We re-emphasis on the priority of its liberation,  safe return of its IDPs, getting all invaders out it, and the elimination of all manifestations of Turkification in the Syrian territories.”

This came through a written statement issued by MSD on the third anniversary of the Turkish aggression on Afrin, and said in the statement:

January 20, marks the third anniversary of the start of the brutal Turkish aggression on the Syria's Afrin, and occupying it later, after a 50-day heroic resistance by its daughters and sons, to cast its dark shadow over safe Afrin, consequently, the Syrian crisis entered a very complex phase.

Turkey acts like a rogue state, tampering with the security and stability of the region, and violating international law through its occupation of Syrian lands and violating its sovereignty and in carrying out its neo-colonial Ottoman model. The invading Turkish state and its mercenary factions deliberately committed crimes against humanity, displaced more than 300 thousand citizens from their lands and homes in Afrin, implemented the demographic change in the region and obliterated the original cultural and historical identity of Afrin. Their crimes affected people, trees and stones, according to the testimony of international humanitarian and human rights organizations.

We are in the Syrian Democratic Council, as we hold the Syrian regime and the Russian Federation responsible for Turkey's occupation of Afrin, we re-emphasis on the priority of its liberation, the safe return of its IDPs, getting the invaders out of it, and removing all manifestations of Turkification. We call on the United Nations and the Security Council to form committees a specialized UN fact-finding commission is to investigate the crimes committed by Turkey and its mercenaries in Afrin, to hold them accountable.

We assure the Syrian public opinion that the Afrin issue is not exclusive to anyone but rather a national issue and the task of liberating it rests with all Syrians without exception, and that Turkey's occupation of the Syrian lands has deepened the crisis and damaged the Syrian national fabric, and we stress that the solution to the Syrian crisis is through Syrians solidarity and unification, to be saved from occupation, terrorism and tyranny, and to build a decentralized, democratic, pluralistic Syria.
