One year since Turkish occupation’s attacks on Ain Issa, they intensify

As one year passed since the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Sp and the displacement of their residents and the settlement of strangers in their homes, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries intensified their attacks on Ain Issa district.

A year after Turkey and its mercenary groups occupied the cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi, they began to launch massive attacks on Ain Issa district and the western villages of Girê Spi, amid Russian silence; with which it signed a ceasefire agreement, according to it, the Russian military police forces and the Syrian border guards deployed in the border areas and on the borders, what happened during the last month?

Turkish attacks and incitement from government agents

On the past 4 October, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched heavy weapons attacks on the village of Kor Hassan, west of the occupied city of Girê Spi, where several shells fell on the village and its surroundings.

On the day of the anniversary of the occupation of Turkey and its mercenaries of the cities of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain, and Girê Spi / Tal Abyad, which marks October 9, the mercenaries shelled with heavy weapons the sites of the Syrian government forces in the village of Serongek in the western countryside of Girê Spi.

Although the Syrian government forces along the M4 highway and the adjacent villages were subjected to the Turkish occupation’s shelling, these forces also sought, through their intelligence cells, to sow discord and incite against the Autonomous Administration.

In this context, the security forces in Ain Issa district arrested an intelligence cell of the Damascus government, consisting of three people.

According to the confessions of the cell members, their mission was to sow discord and create a state of dissatisfaction among the people against the projects of the Autonomous Administration, and the exploitation of some residents for this, and incitement against the administration and security forces in the district.

This cell also worked to transfer information about the sites and military movements of the Syrian Democratic Forces for the benefit of the security branches in Hama and Damascus, according to the security forces in Ain Issa district.

Constant shelling

On October 16, the mercenaries re-shelled the center of Ain Issa district and the camp, in addition to the villages of “Khalidiya, Hoshan, Abu Surra” and the M4 international road, causing the death of Hatem Hazem (13 years).

The mercenaries' shelling also hit the villages of Ain Issa district, such as the village of Sida in the north of Ain Issa, the Ain Issa camp, and the M4 road, in addition to the town of Abu Surra, west of Ain Issa, and the villages of “Sufyan, Khirbet Baqer, Kour Hasan, Saleeb, Hurriya, Bayer Arab, and the village of Al-Jarn,” west of Girê Spi.

The intense missile and shell attacks came in an effort by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries to empty the villages and Ain Issa district of the people and displace them.

On the next day, the mercenaries shelled the center of Ain Issa district and the village of Sidon, with heavy weapons and shells.

In addition, mercenaries targeted civilians on the M4 road by launching shells on the road and its surroundings, and as a result, Ahmed Ali Jumaa (30 years old) was wounded and subsequently transferred to hospitals in the city of Raqqa, and his condition was described as critical.

Break-in attempt thwarted

Starting from the northeast axis of Ain Issa, the mercenaries launched a ground attack on the village of Fatsa, where the SDF responded and thwarted the attack; the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to destroy and burn one of the Turkish occupation headquarters near the areas of clashes.

According to a statement by the Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces, those clashes led to killing at least 10 mercenaries, while two members of the Internal Security Forces were wounded in Ain Issa, after the shelling of the district center with shells and missiles.

While the leader of Girê Spi / Tal Abyad Military Council, Riad al-Khalaf, condemned the continuous Turkish attacks on the countryside of Girê Spi district, which caused the loss of two lives, despite the ceasefire agreement in these areas.

The people of Ain Issa expressed their rejection of the attacks and the daily bombardment, and took place in a demonstration condemning the shelling, in which they held the international community responsible for what was happening and not putting an end to Turkey’s violations.

The mercenaries again shelled the villages of Hoshan, Al-Khaldiya and Al-Saqr rest house in the countryside of Ain Issa district with heavy weapons on October 24.

The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries tried to advance towards the village of Khaldiya and the international road M4 west of Ain Issa district, and the SDF responded to the attack within the framework of their right to legitimate defense, and the clashes resulted in the death and injury of a number of mercenaries.

Aziz Kharbisan, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces on the fronts of Ain Issa district, said that the Turkish occupation army tried to storm the center of Ain Issa district from the side of the village of Saida in the northeast of the district from the side of the international highway (M4) and from the west of the Girê Spi camp, using more than 50 soldiers of the occupation and the mercenaries.

ISIS in Serêkaniyê

Videos and pictures of demonstrations against France in the occupied city of Serêkaniye appeared on social networking sites on October 25, and during these demonstrations, Turkey’s mercenaries raised the flag of ISIS publicly.

Our agency has previously published the names of ISIS mercenaries who are fighting within the ranks of Turkish mercenaries, and they participated in the attacks on Serêkaniyê and Gire Spi.

Girê Spi Canton Council warns of a new wave of displacement

The mercenaries' shelling on villages caused a displacement movement towards the Girê Spi camp in Tal Al Samen, south of the city of Raqqa, on October 30.

The mercenaries shelled the villages of Debs in the western countryside of Ain Issa and Koberlik west of Girê Spi with missiles and cannons.

Accordingly, the deputy co-chair of Girê Spi Canton Council, Hazza Muhammad, warned of further waves of displacement in the event the Turkish attacks continue on the countryside of Girê Spi canton, calling on the international community and Russia, which considers itself "guarantor", to put pressure on Turkey to prevent repeating the tragedy of Girê Spi and Serêkaniyê after occupying their areas.

Hazaa Muhammad’s talk came after the repeated attacks by Turkey and its mercenaries and the attempts to infiltrate into the area despite the ceasefire agreement and the extension of the emergency law approved by the United States of America a year ago.

Of note, the number of displaced people from Girê Spi district and its countryside after Turkey's occupation has reached more than 100,000 displaced people, who are suffering from difficult living conditions in light of the economic conditions that Syria is going through in general.

Military bases around the international road

The Turkish occupation army has increased its bases in the nearby occupied villages of Ain Issa and Shirkrak, as there are 8 Turkish military bases in Shirkrak and many mercenary points, and from these bases and points, the homes and properties of civilians are directly targeted.

Attacks and shelling continue

The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries continue to bombard and target the villages of Ain Issa and Girê Spi during the month of November, as the mercenaries shelled the village of Fatsa, located in the eastern countryside of Ain Issa, on the first day of this month.

The village of Bir Khatik, located in the western countryside of Girê Spi / Tal Abyad, was also subjected to heavy weapons bombardment.

On November 7, the Turkish occupation army targeted the sites of the Syrian government forces in the vicinity of the village of Qazali in the western countryside of the city of Girê Spi.

The occupation army also continued to shell the vicinity of Ain Issa district, its camp, the village of Sidon in its north, and the M4 international road.

On November 10, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched an attack with heavy weapons on the small village of Abdak inhabited by civilians, west of the occupied Tal Abyad / Girê Spi district.

It continued to shell the populated villages of Qazali, Arida, Kour Hassan and Saleeb until November 12, which resulted in wounding a member of the Syrian government forces.

In recent days, drones began flying intensively in the sky of Ain Issa and its countryside.

A Russian-American silence

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria considers that the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries come in very important and sensitive circumstances, as the decision and the international call calling for a cessation of hostilities throughout the world due to the Corona pandemic, and on the other hand, in light of an American-Turkish as well as a Russian-Turkish understanding to stop ceasefire in the region.

Despite these agreements, Russia and the United States remain silent about the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on safe civilians.
