Pompeo discusses Iran's file with Europeans today in Brussels

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo decided to head for Brussels on Monday, where he would discuss "pressing issues", especially the Iranian issue with European officials, AFP reported.

An official at the State Department declared on Sunday evening that Pompeo would travel to Brussels instead of Moscow, as Pompeo was due to visit Moscow on Monday.

But the source confirmed that Pompeo would travel to Sochi to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday.

A meeting of the EU Affairs Council is scheduled to be held on Monday in Brussels, but the US State Department did not specify the meetings on the Pompeo agenda.

The ministry said that Pompeo would hold talks with officials from France, the United Kingdom and Germany - the three European countries that signed the agreement on Iran's nuclear file in 2015.
