Pompeo: We seek to prevent Turkey from activating Russian missiles

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview with Bloomberg television that his country was working on Turkey to not activating the S-400 systems it had purchased from Russia, pointing out that Washington informed Ankara that doing so was "unacceptable."

"I will not make any comments on internal discussions, we all work together, and we have clearly assured the Turks that the deployment of S-400 systems is unacceptable," Pompeo said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Pompeo said that Turkey was excluded from the program of production of F-35 fighter jets of the fifth generation in response to the purchase of Russian missile systems, adding: "Additional sanctions may be imposed, and we strongly want to not enter the S-400 in service."

"This is our goal, and we talked about it with the Turkish side for many months," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo added.
