Two car bombs exploded on Monday at the intersection of Al Wahda Street with the main street in Qamishlo, the city's main street.
Five civilians were killed and 50 others were wounded.
The explosions resulted in heavy material damage to civilian property and shops, as well as the burning of dozens of cars parked in the street.
In conjunction with the terrorist bombings, ISIS claimed responsibility for the assassination of the priest Ibrahim Hanna Bidu, the pastor of the Armenian Catholic Church in Qamishlo, with his father, by shooting them on the road between al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor as they headed from Hasakah to Deir Ezzor to oversee the restoration of a church there.
The Democratic Union Party issued a statement today regarding the bombings and the assassination statement of public opinion, in which he offered condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished condolences to the wounded.
The statement read:
"We, PYD, denounce and condemn in the strongest terms these bombings that hit the city of Qamishlo and condemn the assassination of the priest Ibrahim Hanna Bidu (Hosip) pastor of the Armenian Catholic Church in Qamishli.
We affirm that the goal of terrorist bombings and assassination is to create confusion, chaos and anxiety among the citizens and residents of northern and eastern Syria and to strike the national fabric by the terrorist organization, which receives orders from the supporter of terrorism Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which aims to eliminate peace and coexistence and brotherhood of peoples in northern Syria. It is clear that the Turkish aggression coincides with the creation of chaos in the north of Syria, and is trying hard by all means to revive ISIS, which would not have flourished without the support and Turkish attack.
With this great injury to the Armenian community and civilians in Qamishlo we ask for mercy on the martyrs and call for the speedy recovery of the wounded.
We also call on the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, the European Union, coalition forces and the United States to shoulder their responsibilities towards the components of northern and eastern Syria who have defeated terrorism on behalf of the world, and to find an international mechanism to protect these components that are subjected to aggression and terrorist attacks.
We also call upon the masses of our people to be vigilant against all tricks and plans aimed at striking the national fabric, and call on all political and national forces to join forces and work to strengthen the national unity to face all challenges and to reach a vision, a unified position and a strategy that meets the requirements of the stage.
