Reconsidering Morsi trial postponed

The Cairo Criminal Court at the Tora Courts Complex postponed reconsidering the trial of the deposed President Mohamed Morsi and others in the "East Frontier Incursion" case to the 19 May session.

Egyptian media reported that the Cairo Criminal Court had clarified that the delay was to complete the defense case while the defendants continued to be held.

Among the defendants in this case, along with the deposed president Mohammed Morsi, 27 leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, and elements of the Palestinian Hamas movement, and the Lebanese Hezbollah.

According to the media, the head of the former Union of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, Rashad Bayoumi, Mahmoud Ezzat, Mohammad Saad al-Katatni, Saad al-Husseini, Muhammad Badi, Muhammad al-Beltagy, Safwat Hijazi and Isam al-Din al-Arian were among the accused.
