Since Turkey and its mercenaries occupied the city of Afrin on the 18th of March 2018, and the forcibly displacement of the original inhabitants from it to al-Shahba canton, the people of the region have not been spared even in the areas of displacement from the brutality of the Turkish occupation.
As the number of massacres committed by the Turkish occupation army since the displacement to al-Shahba canton has reached 3 massacres, which are "Tel Rifaat massacre which killed 8 children and 2 elderly people, and left dozens of wounded children, Aqiba massacre which killed a family of three members, the father, mother and their daughter, another massacre in Tel Rifaat was recently committed, and it also killed two children and a woman, in addition to a number of wounded."
In addition, the mines planted previously during the presence of mercenaries in al-Shahba canton have claimed the lives of dozens of children, women and men, as the number of martyrs since the displacement to al-Shahba canton has reached 32, most of them are children, and 43 wounded, also most of them are children.
In this regard, the Administrator of the Kurdish Red Crescent in al-Shahba canton, Dr. Hassen Nabo, said to our agency, "Al-Shahba canton was occupied by many terrorist factions over a period of 7 years, as the infrastructure in it was destroyed, so after the people's displacement to al-Shahba canton, they faced obstructs and difficulties with the siege imposed on the civilian population on the one hand, and the continuous shelling of the canton on the other hand."
Nabo added, "It is regrettable that the most of the people who lost their lives in the shelling of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and the mines that are remnants of mercenaries, in different areas and villages in al-Shahba canton are children."
Nabo talked about the statistics collected by the Kurdish Red Crescent in al-Shahba canton during the past three years, saying: "The number of martyrs since the beginning of the displacement has reached 32 martyrs, including 13 children between 7 months and 14 years. As for the number of wounded, it reached 43, among them 19 children aged 8 to 19 years old, including those who experienced permanent disability.
Nabo criticized the international humanitarian organizations that did not fulfill their duties and remained silent about the massacres committed by Turkey and its mercenaries against the people of Afrin and their children, saying, "We have not seen any humanitarian assistance that supports the displaced people here, although we are doing our duty and we provide as much as possible, but this is not enough, especially for the injured who suffer permanent physical disabilities and live in a very difficult psychological state after losing parts of their body. They need special care and special treatment."
Nabo concluded his speech by asking international humanitarian organizations to assist Afrin's children.
