Regimes' hidden weapon against society... drugs (3)

How are drugs introduced into the regions of North and East Syria?

Drugs enter from the occupied Syrian regions and areas controlled by the Damascus government, and the borders with Iraq, Başûr Kurdistan and Iran, through networks to the areas of the Autonomous Administration, through commercial methods and humanitarian and relief organizations, and these networks follow different and hidden methods to enter them, using commercial identities and official missions belonging to relief and humanitarian organizations

Between the crossroads of the Syrian crisis and the war raging in devastated Syria, the Autonomous Administration system of North and East Syria constituted an example of social, cultural and political solidarity, security, and a major obstacle to those who have accounts against Syria, so all the military, political and economic wars that they ignited were in order to destroy this the regime, and today they are waging a private war, and one of its methods is organizing and spreading drugs in it.

After Turkey occupied the cities of Jarabulus, Azaz, al-Bab, Idlib, Afrin, Girê Spî / Tal Abyad and Serêkaniyê/ Ras al-Ain, these areas became a hotbed for the introduction and trade of drugs.

Tight siege from four sides

The Turkish state, the Damascus government and its loyal parties are trying to bring drugs into the areas of the Autonomous Administration, by forming networks, to send drugs to the region, and on the part of Başûr Kurdistan, Iraq and Iran, they are organizing networks and bringing drugs into the regions of North and East Syria.

joint networks

It is noteworthy that there is coordination and interdependent relations between these networks. They want the regions of North and East Syria to become a center for the dissemination and entry of drugs that enter from Iraq, Başûr Kurdistan and Iran into the Syrian regions.

From Jarabulus, Azaz, Afrin, and the occupied Syrian cities, drugs are introduced through various routes to the areas of the Autonomous Administration, and some of these drugs are sent to Başûr Kurdistan.

Methods of drug introduction

The Autonomous Administration manages 30% of the Syrian geography, and it owns crossings and border outlets that are hundreds of kilometers long, with the occupied areas and areas controlled by the Damascus government. Along these borders, there are many outlets that connect these areas with the areas of the Autonomous Administration.

Networks promoting narcotics try to introduce drugs through these crossings in hidden and secret ways, and spread them among the community.

It connects the areas of the Autonomous Administration with the areas of the Damascus government, several crossings, such as al-Tabqa crossing, Abu Kahf (al-Tayha) in Manbij, Abu al-Assi, Um Jalud, Awn al-Dadat, and with Iraq Tal Kocher / al-Yarubiyah and Faysh Khabur. These networks are trying to introduce drugs through these crossings into the areas of AANES.

These networks also use the M4 international highway, the villages of al-Shahba, Girê Spî / Tal Abyad, and Tal Tamr, i.e. the villages of the seam lines, since the geography of these areas is characterized by ease and difficulty in controlling them.

In the separating areas with the occupied Syrian regions, there are attempts to bring drugs into Manbij through the Umm al-Julud and Aoun al-Dadat crossings.

Members of a drug-trafficking network that was arrested by the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria revealed that they use commercial identities and missions bearing the stamp of humanitarian and relief organizations, to facilitate the crossing of their trucks through checkpoints and crossings to the regions of North and East Syria.

How do they get drugs into the self-administration areas?

According to the information we obtained from the security institutions of the Autonomous Administration, the drug networks, in order to organize the drug trade, are divided into 3 groups, the first group is tasked with bringing drugs into the areas of the Autonomous Administration, the second is delivering and bringing them into Başûr Kurdistan, and the third is tasked with establishing and organizing work Networking and promoting the spread of drugs.

The crossings are open to humanitarian and relief aid, between northern and eastern Syria and the Damascus government, which is the Tabqa crossing, and the Damascus government uses it to organize the drug trade, as trucks and relief aid are used to facilitate the entry and concealment of drugs within it.

They increase toxins

Narcotic trafficking networks are trying to increase poisons in the regions of north and east Syria. Before these networks reach the Autonomous Administration crossings, they cross the security checkpoints of the Damascus government, and they are not stopped or searched.

According to the information we obtained from the Internal Security Forces in Manbij, in the last 5 months and at the beginning of 2023, (2) million pills were seized, which were hidden in a truck, and this method is used at the Umm Jaloud and Awn al-Dadat crossings as well.

In the last 3 months, two networks were arrested by the Internal Security Forces in the center of Manbij, each network consisting of 20 people, and 35 drug dealers were arrested, in total 55 people were arrested.

They enter it in different ways

Hassan Kano, who occupies the tasks of the General Administration for Drug Control - North and East Syria, indicates that the mercenaries supported by Turkey and the Damascus government are the main reason behind the spread of these materials within the region by various means and methods.

Kano stressed, "They are trying - by spreading these poisons - to control society and the young groups in particular, to destabilize security within our regions in North and East Syria."

Kano revealed the way these networks organize themselves by dividing into several groups, and explained: "One group collects materials and facilitates their entry into the region, another receives these materials and brings them into our regions by means and means, and another promotes and traffics in drugs."

Kano explained, "The methods that adopted by the terrorist groups supported by Turkey and the Syrian regime in bringing drugs into the region are relying on secret hideouts within means of transport of different sizes, and smuggling across the borders."

Members of drug networks who were arrested during their interrogation revealed many secrets and information regarding the introduction of poisons.
