Robertson: We to take into account conditions of allies, partners

"The understanding reached by the United States with Turkey on the establishment of a safe area in northern Syria is not final," Pentagon spokesman Sean Robertson said.

Speaking to the US-funded Al-Hurra Channel, Robertson revealed that "talks between officials of the two countries are still going on to get a lot of details," pointing to the importance of the initial agreement between the United States and Turkey.

Robertson revealed that there is coordination between the two countries in order to achieve three key points: "to allay the concerns expressed by Turkey, to allow the coalition and partners in the SDF to continue the struggle against ISIS and to protect the partner in this fight against ISIS."

The initial understanding between Washington and Ankara, according to Robertson, was to ensure that the two countries would work together to coordinate, "There is a team on the ground looking at the Joint Operational Coordination Center, which will be based in Turkey."
