Russian planes bomb Khan Sheikun, demilitarized area

Russian aircraft launched several air raids on the Khan Sheikun area south of Idlib, while the regime intensified its shelling of the demilitarized areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the Russian warplanes carried out after midnight on Thursday - Friday, four air raids targeted areas in the northern outskirts of the city of Khan Sheikun in the southern sector of the countryside.

Meanwhile, the regime forces shelled areas of the so-called demilitarized zone, where they shelled areas in al-Sharia, al-Hawiz and Qelat al-Mideq of Sehel al-Ghab in the north-western Hama countryside and in the northern suburbs of Hama.

The forces of the regime intensified its shelling of the province of Idlib during the past 24 hours, killing at least 22 civilians, including eight children, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Thursday.

The demilitarized zones are witnessing heavy shelling despite the Russian-Turkish promotion of joint patrols in the region.

Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem in a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart in Damascus on Thursday accused Ankara of supporting terrorist groups by blocking the implementation of the Sochi deal.
