The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the end of the first phase of the "Deterring Terrorism" campaign on June 10, 2020, by arresting 110 mercenaries and combing large areas of the countryside of Deir Ezzor and Hasaka.
Today, the SDF media center issued a written statement, published on its page, to public opinion, announcing the start of the second phase of the campaign.
The text of the statement read:
"This morning, Friday, July 17, 2020, our forces launched the second phase of the (Deterring Terrorism) campaign to track down and pursue the cells of the ISIS terrorist group in the areas of Deir Ezzor.
This stage targets ISIS dens and cells that threaten stability and civil peace in Deir Ezzor regions, and came at the request of the people, elders, and notables of the tribes in the region, especially after ISIS attacks on civilians increased, and they posed a direct threat to their lives.
The campaign involving the Special Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) and in coordination with the international coalition and air support forces will continue until the achievement of the goal set by the General Command."
