DIYAR AHMO/ DEIR EZ-ZOR
SDF continue to progress as part of the "battle to defeat terrorism", the last phase of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, aimed at liberating the countryside of Deir ez-Zor from IS mercenaries.
IS mercenaries announced the "Islamic Caliphate" at the end of 2013 to begin the occupation of Syrian and Iraqi territory, with the support of the Turkish state, and the area which was occupied by mercenaries reached more than 130 thousand km 2.
SDF which were formed from the components of the Syrian people began the stage of liberating the land to restore security and liberate the civilians after many appeals to rid them of intimidation of IS.
The liberation campaigns of northern and eastern Syria were initiated by Kobanî by the People and Women Protection Units and then after the formation of Syria's Democratic Forces on the 11th of October, 2015. Therefore, liberation campaigns were launched from al-Hol district to Manbij and al-Raqqa and now al-Jazeera Tempest Campaign.
The final stage of "Al Jazeera Tempest" campaign, called the "Battle to defeat terrorism" launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces on September 11, 2018, continues until now and promises the end of the presence of mercenaries in the geography of the region, where they are in a small area inside al-Bagouz area on the west bank east of the Euphrates River.
A military source from SDF confirmed that they are preparing to begin the final battle, which will end the existence of IS in the geography of the region.
The source said that this battle is sensitive, because mercenaries use civilians trapped in the area as human shields, noting that their progress in this battle will be careful to avoid harming civilians.
