Sudanese officer killed in an attack by Ethiopian groups on Sudan

A Sudanese army officer was killed and a number of soldiers and civilians were wounded during an attack by Ethiopian groups on the Sudanese side of the border.

Reuters reported that a Sudanese army officer was killed and several others were injured yesterday in an attack by Ethiopian groups on the Sudanese side of the border.

The agency said, "The Sudanese-Ethiopian border in Gedaref State witnessed a new tension, as an Ethiopian force penetrated, and attacked some agricultural projects in Barka Noreen and Al-Forsan, and continued the assault to include the clash with the Sudanese military force in Barkat Noreen camp."

"As a result of confronting the groups, the commander of the Sudanese force, Captain Karam El-Din, died as a result of his wounds in Doka Hospital, the local capital of Qallabat, and a number of soldiers and civilians were wounded," The agency added.
