Turkish mercenaries continue to destroy archaeological sites in Syria

The crimes of Turkey’s mercenaries continue in the areas they occupy from Syria, and in the context of their systematic destruction of archaeological sites, the mercenaries continue their indiscriminate excavations in Afrin and the countryside of al-Bab.

Turkey's mercenaries continue to systematically destroy archaeological sites and everything related to the historical heritage of Syria, under Turkish orders.

In this context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the excavation work of the archaeological “Tal al-Bir” in the village of Sheikhorza, which is located 7 km from the center of Bulbul district, has been continuing for three years by the “National Army” mercenaries of Turkey, using heavy machinery, in which the hill was completely excavated.

In a related context, the mercenaries of the "Hamza Division" continue to search for antiquities in the land of Zarqa in the Al-Karizat area in the countryside of al-Bab, where excavations are being carried out by the mercenary "Abu Azab Al-Najjar" by setting up tents in the places to be excavated to hide the excavations in search of finds and treasures.

In its latest statistics, the Directorate of Antiquities in Afrin canton said that the Turkish occupation destroyed the human heritage (Afrin), by destroying more than 130 archaeological sites and hills.

Among the archaeological sites and hills that were destroyed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, the archaeological site of Ain Dara, Tel "Aranda", the shrine of "Sheikh Hamid" in the village of Qastal Jindo in Shara district, and many other sites.

These organized crimes against the human cultural heritage are carried out according to a systematic Turkish plan aimed at destroying everything that is aesthetic and historical in the Kurdish areas occupied by the Turkish army in order to obliterate and distort their landmarks.

Specialists believe that the goal is not only material profit, but Ankara aims primarily to change the demographic, national and cultural facts, where its mercenaries wreak havoc and sabotage in it, trying to obliterate the cultural depth of the region.
