US: Our troops that will remain in Syria will be part of an international force

The State Department's spokesman Robert Paladino said, "The US forces that will remain in northeastern Syria will be part of a multinational force that aims at preventing the return of IS organization and supporting the security and stability in the region."

Al-Hurra US station quoted from the US State Department, "The process of reducing the forces will continue, making clear that as the transition takes place, we will continue to work with the allies and partners to clear the liberated areas, carry out specific counter-terrorism operations and support stabilization efforts."

Paladino pointed out that the talks continue between Washington and its allies on the future of the region.

Paladino declined to specify the countries that would participate in the multinational force.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held talks with his British and French counterparts on Tuesday on the situation in Syria and met with the UN special envoy to Syria Geir Pederson.
