We call on human rights orgs to intervene for teacher Zahra’s release

The Faculty of Languages and Social Sciences, at Rojava University, condemned the Iranian authorities' arrest of the Kurdish language teacher, Zahra Mohammadi, while calling on human rights organizations to intervene and work for her release.

Kurdish language teacher Zahra Mohammadi was arrested on May 23, 2019, and the Iranian authorities sentenced her to 10 years in prison.

To condemn this act, the Faculty of Languages and Social Sciences at the University of Rojava issued a statement to public opinion, read by the Kurdish literature lecturer Marwa Elias.

The text of the statement read:

"The Iranian authorities continue, with their inhuman practices" execution, arbitrary detention and torture, and activists, intellectuals and politicians are subjected to arrest and torture, while many of them have been executed.

Once again, the Iranian regime, one of the fans of the Kurdish culture and language, targeted the teacher Zahra Mohammadi, arbitrarily arrested her on May 23, 2019, and sentenced her to 10 years imprisonment.

This is not the first time that Iranian fascism has taken these actions. The martyr teacher Farzad Kamanger was also martyred, and a number of people became victims of a policy of denial of the rights of the Kurdish people.

We, the teachers and students of the College of Languages and Social Sciences, condemn this act and call on human rights institutions and organizations to carry out their duty and work to release the teacher Zahra and her companions, and we also appeal to our Kurdish people to circumvent the resistance of the teacher Zahra, and to escalate the level of their struggle.
