The General Command of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) issued a written statement about the second Paris massacre that targeted 3 Kurdish patriotic figures, in which it recalled the martyrs of the massacre and affirmed its commitment to follow their footsteps.
The text of the statement read:
" The anti-freedom mentality always seeks to eliminate the freedom struggle of women and peoples by committing massacres.
Therefore, every woman or person who dedicated his life to the struggle for people's freedom became a target of the fascist authorities.
The occupying Turkish state has once again demonstrated to the entire world in the most brutal way its hostility to women who reject oppression and take the lead in the struggle for freedom.
The massacre that took place in Paris targeted Comrade Evin Goyî concretely confirms this fact. Because genocide is identity of the Turkish Republic from history to the present day.
Comrade Evin, was a militant Kurdish woman, who dedicated all her life for the freedom of women and peoples.
She fought for her homeland throughout Kurdistan. When ISIS mercenaries attacked Rojava, she performed her patriotic duty towards her people with a heart full of courage. People like Evin fought relentlessly for the freedom of all peoples in all parts of Kurdistan. Therefore, they were targeted by Erdogan's fascist regime.
On behalf of the Women's Protection Units, we condemn this massacre, and extend our condolences to the families of the martyrs, and we wish recovery to the injured.
This massacre targeted the Kurdish people and the oppressed peoples. Comrade Evin's commitment and loyalty to freedom is at the same time the People's Protection Units' commitment and loyalty to freedom. So we will strengthen our struggle in commitment to the legacy left by Comrade Evin. Our promise is that we will avenge the women who have been martyred by the tyrants."
