The Hasakah Governorate Endowments Directorate held a meeting on Thursday at the Grand Mosque in the city’s central market, bringing together mosque imams and sheikhs to emphasize their role in countering incitement and hate speech and promoting the values of affection, solidarity, and coexistence among members of society.

During the meeting, Hasakah Endowments Director Sheikh Mazen Harouni said that Syria is going through a new phase that requires awareness, wisdom, and a sense of responsibility.

He said, "Syria today is like a newborn child that needs care and attention. We are all responsible for nurturing it and helping it recover and develop. It is our duty to protect it and work for its future."

Harouni noted that Hasakah Governorate suffered damage and destruction across various aspects of life during the rule of the former regime. He stressed that the end of its rule does not mean that all its effects have disappeared, adding that overcoming them requires joint efforts and stronger ties among members of society.

He added, "We must set an example and take the lead in promoting coexistence and love and bringing the people together. We must work collectively to strengthen the bonds among members of society."

He stressed that everyone, without exception, bears responsibility for navigating this phase, citing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, which call for taking responsibility.

He also emphasized the important role of imams and sheikhs in guiding society, raising awareness, and promoting moral and humanitarian values.

Addressing the participants, Harouni said: "You are the knights of the pulpits and the reformers of society. You are an essential part of the solution, and your stand during this phase will be appreciated and acknowledged with gratitude."

He called for resisting attempts to drag society into conflicts and wars and for promoting a culture of dialogue and civil peace to protect social cohesion and strengthen coexistence among the various components of Syrian society.
